Job summary

Hargreaves Lansdown PLC is seeking a skilled Java backend engineer to join the Trade Execution domain. You will build and modernise services in a distributed, cloud-native environment, owning features from design to deployment. The role offers collaboration with teams in Poland and the UK to deliver reliable trading components.

You will design REST APIs, implement microservices, and ensure observability with robust testing and monitoring. Strong English and Polish language skills are required.

Qualifications

• Strong Java/Spring Boot backend experience.
• Hands-on AWS in production.
• Experience designing REST APIs and microservices.
• Ownership of services in production and reliability improvements.
• Familiarity with distributed, event-driven systems.
• Knowledge of observability, metrics and logging.
• Experience with containers and Kubernetes.
• Proficient English (C1) and Polish (B2)

Responsibilities

• Build and improve backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Design and implement REST APIs and multi-service flows
• Develop and operate cloud services in AWS
• Write secure, maintainable and testable code, with automated tests
• Support production systems and investigate incidents
• Use metrics, tracing, logging to improve reliability
• Collaborate with Product and engineering across Poland and the UK
