Pan Capital in Houston is seeking a Trading & Financial Analyst to support Sage Mesa Marketing & Trading LLC, our physical natural gas marketing and trading business. Responsibilities

• Trade Validation and Reconciliation: verify daily trade activity against systems and counterparties.
• Risk and P&L Monitoring: track P&L, monitor exposure, review risk metrics.
• Operational Support: collaborate with Accounting on cash flows, margin calls, and daily workflows.
• Cross-Department Communication: serve as the primary contact between traders, risk management, compliance, and IT.
• Process Improvement: identify risks, gaps, and opportunities to improve reporting and automation.
• Document Support: manage counterparty documentation and warehousing agreements.

Job description

Pan Capital is seeking a Trading & Financial Analyst to support Sage Mesa Marketing & Trading LLC, our physical natural gas marketing and trading business. Based in Houston, this role will work closely with the trading team and provide analytical, financial, and commercial support across trading activities, market analysis, reporting, and business operations.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Trade Validation and Reconciliation: Check, verify, and reconcile daily trade activity, positions, and cash flows against internal systems and external counterparties.
• Risk and P&L Monitoring: Calculate and track Profit and Loss (P&L), monitor market or credit exposure, and review risk metrics like Value at Risk (VaR).
• Operational Support: Partner with Accounting to manage cash flows, margin calls, fee reconciliations, and daily operational workflows. Monitor Trade Blotter and Gas Management system for accuracy.
• Cross-Department Communication: Act as the primary point of contact between traders, risk management, compliance, IT, and external fund administrators to resolve discrepancies. Support month-end reconciliation and tie out processes.
• Process Improvement: Strive to identify operational risks, control gaps, and opportunities to improve reporting, workflow efficiency, and automation.
• Document Support: Manage documentation between counterparties such as NAESB’s and document retention and filing. Agreement setup and warehousing pipeline agreements such as pooling and IT agreements and credit limit monitoring.
• Compliance: Partner with the broader team to support adherence to applicable policies, controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Additional Duties: Assist with additional operational or administrative tasks as directed by management.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Education: A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field preferred.
• Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills and working knowledge of accounting principles and trading, ETRM, or related financial systems.
• Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and solve problems efficiently.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
• Teamwork: Collaborative, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented trading environment.
