Job summary

Gunvor Group in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Trading Desk Accountant to perform trading desk accounting processes, monthly close, and financial reporting. The candidate should have a continuous improvement mindset, strong analytical skills, and solid accounting ability.

The role reports to the Accounting Manager in Houston, Texas. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA preferred), strong financial accounting knowledge, and proficiency in Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of financial accounting.
• Understanding of commodity trading business, especially physical power and natural gas trading.
• Self-motivated, results oriented, and strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong technical skills with proficiency in Excel.
• Ability to independently research and analyze; discuss conclusions with senior management.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Team oriented with willingness to train colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly economic to accounting Profit & Loss statement reconciliations.
• Account for commodity trading transactions (purchases, sales, costs).
• Validate AR/AP balances for assigned Trade desks/commodities.
• Ensure accuracy and consistency with Trading system data.
• Liase with Front/Middle Office and Operations to ensure accuracy, and consistency of reported figures.
• Review balance sheet, cash movements, and working capital for assigned desks.
• Quarterly / Year-end: Participate in Quarter End reporting activities; Compile pertinent data for management reporting and financial statements; Participate in Year End audit and financial statement preparation, as needed.
