Gwinnett County Government is seeking a Trades Technician I–IV to support predictive maintenance on treatment process equipment. The role includes infrared scans, vibration data collection, precision alignment, UAV inspections, and timely repairs.

The job may require on-call, overtime, weekend, and rotating shifts. Positions vary by level, from assisting other trades staff to leading teams and supervising daily activities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CDL must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
• Class A CDL must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Predictive Maintenance Trades Technician I: assist other trades employees by performing routine duties in a specialty or general area.
• Predictive Maintenance Trades Technician II: perform specialized trades duties and assist in training new employees.
• Predictive Maintenance Trades Technician III: perform journeyman trades duties in a specialty area; incumbents may serve as Lead to other team members.
• Predictive Maintenance Trades Technician IV: oversee daily activities of subordinate team members and perform highly specialized work; incumbent will supervise employees.
• Position conducts infrared scans on electrical equipment, collects vibration data, performs precision alignment, conducts UAV inspections, and makes necessary repairs and adjustments.

Responsibilities

• Predictive Maintenance Trades Technician I: This class is responsible for assisting other trades employees by performing routine duties in a specialty or general area.
• Predictive Maintenance Trades Technician II: This class is responsible for performing specialized trades duties and assisting in the training of new employees.
• Predictive Maintenance Trades Technician III: This class is responsible for performing journeyman trades duties in a specialty area. Incumbents also serve as Lead to other team members.
• Predictive Maintenance Trades Technician IV: This class is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of subordinate team members and performing highly specialized work in area of specialty. Incumbent will supervise employees.

Other Job Requirements/Information

• This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
• This position may require 24-hour on call assignment, overtime, or working weekends, holidays, 10-hour, 12-hour, and rotating shifts.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Qualifications

Trades Tech I

• High School diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license.
• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

Trades Tech II

• High school diploma or GED
• Two years of trades experience
• Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job;
• Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained with 12 months of employment.
• Valid driver's license.

Trades Tech III

• High school diploma or GED
• Four years of trades experience
• Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
• Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained with 12 months of employment
• Valid driver's license

Trades Tech IV

• High school diploma, or GED
• Valid driver's license;
• Five years of progressively responsible trades experience, some of which is in a supervisory capacity;
• or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above;
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
