The West Virginia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation seeks a skilled trades specialist to perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC units and related building systems. You will work under the Building and Grounds Manager across statewide facilities; duties include welding, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and masonry tasks as needed.
Travel may be required; certification for refrigerant recycling may be required by the Clean Air Act.
Under general supervision of a Building and Grounds Manager, this position will perform skilled trades work in maintenance, construction, equipment repair, preventative maintenance and minor repair to HVAC units. This position is one of four like trades specialists that will perform these duties as part of the DCR's centralized construction and maintenance department. This department will take on specialized projects within the DCR's 36 secure facilities that may include but not limited to welding, repair and replacement of plumbing systems, construction and repair to office space, maintenance and construction of sidewalks, repair to parking lots, repair to roofing, repair to facility equipment such as lawnmowers, buffers, facility sewage systems, electronic control panels, and facility generators. This position is included in a department that is statewide, overnight travel will be required at times. Other duties as assigned.
Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent.
Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience or paid self-employment in heating, cooling, ventilation, building maintenance, or building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, plasterer, welder, machinist, or masonry.
Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.
