City of Winston-Salem is seeking a Tree Trimmer/ Parks Maintenance helper to perform manual work maintaining trees in parks and city properties, under the close supervision of the Urban Forester and Tree Trimmer.
You will prune and remove trees, plant and water, and assist with traffic control and equipment maintenance. A high school diploma or GED is required with minimal arboriculture experience; expect physical work in outdoor conditions and training in chainsaw and safety procedures.
Performs manual work assisting with the general maintenance of trees in parks and city properties, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Urban Forester and Tree Trimmer.

General knowledge of related industry, organization, and department policies, practices, and procedures; general knowledge of related industry organization, and departmental legal guides, recommendations, best practices, ordinances, and laws; some knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools and techniques of urban forestry; ability to acquire a knowledge within a reasonable time period of the methods and techniques of a standard trade; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to acquire skill in the use of tools and equipment of a standard trade; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in arboriculture, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
