Job summary

Qualifications

Trader - $147,600 -$164,00

Sr Trader - $169,200 - $188,000

Ranges are per year based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401K.

Primary Purpose Of Position

The Sr. Trader is responsible for working with a group of traders within a regional trading portfolio. This person will be required to perform technical and fundamental analysis that will be used to develop proprietary trading strategies. The position requires the individual to develop relationships with external customers, producers, and end users. The Trader will be required to execute physically and financially settled transactions consistent with a defined overall portfolio strategy.

Primary Duties And Accountabilities

• Within established delegations of authority, efficiently executes physically and financially settled transactions to meet the objectives of their commodity portfolios.
• Remains abreast of market developments, utilizing market intelligence, research and analyses to develop a market view which supports transactional activity. Readily shares views and analysis internally.
• Interacts with traders, analysts and schedulers to coordinate timing, pricing and scheduling of transactions.
• Reviews commodity, transportation and storage contracts in order to fully understand obligations and opportunities.
• Maintain external relationships with key suppliers, service providers and trade groups.
• Maintain internal relationships with wholesale trading, retail energy, and portfolio management.
• In-person attendance for training, all-hands meetings, and other meaningful engagements.
• Travel required as necessary to meet business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - Trader

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field
• 8 years of relevant work experience, or 12 years of experience in lieu of the degree
• Knowledge of the gas or electricity markets and the associated infrastructure supporting those trading marketplaces
• Demonstrated decision making capabilities coupled with the ability to work under tight deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to drive and achieve bottom line results
• Self-motivated to achieve results in a collaborative and rapidly evolving environment
• Understanding of fuel markets and their relationship to power markets
• Analytical rigor and ability to summarize analysis into actionable, practical conclusions
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences
• Knowledge of generation and load portfolio risks including volatility, VLR, load moneyness, attrition and ancillary services

Minimum Qualifications - Sr Trader

• Bachelor's degree in Business and 8 years of relevant experience, or 12 years of experience in lieu of the degree
• 5 years of experience trading physical commodities such as coal, oil, natural gas, or electricity, or direct experience working with related markets and or products
• Knowledge of risk management principles, tools and energy derivatives
• Extensive knowledge of market trends, key players in the market and regulatory issues
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends
