Job summary

Dorsey & Whitney LLP seeks a Trademark Paralegal to support attorneys in managing US and international trademark portfolios from our Denver, Minneapolis, or Salt Lake City offices. The role emphasizes client communication, docketing, filing, and research within a collaborative team.

You will draft and review correspondence, coordinate with clients and local counsel, and assist with due diligence, searches, and copyright filings. A paralegal program or IP familiarity is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or paralegal program or equivalent with IP familiarity.
• Excellent oral and written communication; analytical; able to set priorities.
• Proactively problem-solve and exercise independent judgement.
• Excellent organizational skills; manage a large volume of detailed tasks.
• Proficient understanding of trademark process, docketing and filing responsibilities.
• Proficient with USPTO online databases: MyUSPTO, TTAB, eMadrid.
• Familiar with international trademark databases and docketing databases (Foundation IP preferred).
• Proficient in conducting online searches in databases.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys in drafting correspondence to clients on US and international trademark prosecution events.
• Coordinate with clients and attorneys on routine trademark prosecution events.
• Manage US and international trademark portfolios; review and maintain file accuracy; monitor docket and deadlines.
• Draft trademark documents for attorney review and filing with the USPTO.
• Navigate online databases for application status updates and document downloads.
• Apply knowledge of trademark procedures and activities to paralegal tasks.
• Instruct local counsel on international matters and oversee local counsel invoices.
• Assist with trademark search and clearance and diligence projects.
• Prepare copyright documentation for attorney review and filing with the US Copyright Office.
• Assist with trademark clearing house and domain name activities.
