Job summary

Fish & Richardson, the premier global IP law firm, seeks a Trademark Paralegal in Washington, DC to support both U.S. and international trademark matters.

You will prepare and file documents for prosecution, maintenance, and WIPO filings, and coordinate with clients and foreign associates on routine filings and evidence of use. Strong familiarity with TTAB, UDRP actions, and worldwide trademark laws is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience as a Trademark Paralegal with U.S. and foreign prosecution.
• Familiarity with TTAB, copyright filings, and UDRP actions.
• Experience with worldwide trademark laws and WIPO filings.
• Able to meet the paralegal 1300 hour billing metric.
• Must be able to work in the office 3 days per month.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file documents for U.S. trademark prosecution and maintenance.
• Prepare and file Madrid-based filings with WIPO.
• Communicate with clients regarding filing requirements and evidence of use.
• Correspond with foreign associates on routine prosecution, opposition, cancellation, and maintenance.
• Assist on special projects including copyright, customs, UDRP, and domain name registration.

How Will You Make a Difference?

By supporting our Trademark team with

• Preparing and filing documents required in the prosecution and maintenance of U.S. trademarks, using the U.S. PTO’s ETEAS filing system.
• Preparing and filing documents required in the prosecution and maintenance of Madrid-based filings with WIPO
• Communicating with clients regarding requirements for filing applications, maintaining trademarks, and reviewing evidence of use required in connection with these trademark documents
• Corresponding directly with foreign associates on routine trademark prosecution, opposition, cancellation, and/or maintenance
• Handling or assisting on special projects as assigned, including copyright applications, customs recordation, UDRP actions, client website review and domain name registration

What Will You Bring to the Table?

• 3+ years’ experience as a Trademark Paralegal (or similar equivalent experience) with both U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution.
• Familiarity with TTAB proceedings, copyright filings and UDRP actions.
• Experience with worldwide trademark laws and procedures, including WIPO filings.
• Ability to meet the paralegal 1300 hour billing metric.
• Trained in conducting preliminary trademark searches.
• Ability to work in the office 3 days per month is required

• The pay range for this position varies by geographic market. Final compensation will be based on a variety of factors including education, experience, skills, professional background, overall qualifications, and location
  • In Chicago and Minneapolis, the estimated starting pay range is $34.87 - $43.58 per hour (based on a 37.5-hour workweek), which is equivalent to $68,000- $85,000 annually.
  • In Boston and San Diego, the estimated starting pay range is $40.10 - $50.00 per hour (based on a 35-hour workweek), which is equivalent to $73,000 - $91,000 annually.
  • In Washington, D.C., the estimated starting pay range is $40.00 - $49.74 per hour (based on a 37.5-hour workweek), which is equivalent to $78,000 - $97,000 annually.
