Job summary

Fish & Richardson, a premier IP law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Trademark Paralegal to support our Trademark team. You will handle US and foreign prosecution, including TTAB, UDRP, and WIPO filings, and coordinate with clients and foreign associates.

This is a hybrid role with in-office presence required three days per month. Qualified candidates have 3+ years of experience, familiarity with ETEAS and international filings, and the ability to meet a 1300-hour billing metric.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience as a Trademark Paralegal with US and foreign prosecution.
• Familiarity with TTAB proceedings, copyright filings and UDRP actions.
• Experience with worldwide trademark laws and WIPO filings.
• Ability to meet the paralegal 1300 hour billing metric.
• Office presence required: in-office 3 days per month.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file documents for U.S. trademark prosecution and maintenance via ETEAS.
• Prepare and file Madrid-based filings with WIPO.
• Communicate with clients regarding filing requirements and evidence of use.
• Correspond with foreign associates on routine prosecution, opposition, cancellation, and maintenance.
• Assist on special projects including copyright filings, customs recordation, UDRP actions, domain registrations.

By supporting our Trademark team with

• Preparing and filing documents required in the prosecution and maintenance of U.S. trademarks, using the U.S. PTO’s ETEAS filing system.
• Preparing and filing documents required in the prosecution and maintenance of Madrid-based filings with WIPO
• Communicating with clients regarding requirements for filing applications, maintaining trademarks, and reviewing evidence of use required in connection with these trademark documents
• Corresponding directly with foreign associates on routine trademark prosecution, opposition, cancellation, and/or maintenance
• Handling or assisting on special projects as assigned, including copyright applications, customs recordation, UDRP actions, client website review and domain name registration

What Will You Bring to the Table?

• 3+ years’ experience as a Trademark Paralegal (or similar equivalent experience) with both U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution.
• Familiarity with TTAB proceedings, copyright filings and UDRP actions.
• Experience with worldwide trademark laws and procedures, including WIPO filings.
• Ability to meet the paralegal 1300 hour billing metric.
• Trained in conducting preliminary trademark searches.
• Ability to work in the office 3 days per month is required

• The pay range for this position varies by geographic market. Final compensation will be based on a variety of factors including education, experience, skills, professional background, overall qualifications, and location
  • In Chicago and Minneapolis, the estimated starting pay range is $34.87 - $43.58 per hour (based on a 37.5-hour workweek), which is equivalent to $68,000- $85,000 annually.
  • In Boston and San Diego, the estimated starting pay range is $40.10 - $50.00 per hour (based on a 35-hour workweek), which is equivalent to $73,000 - $91,000 annually.
  • In Washington, D.C., the estimated starting pay range is $40.00 - $49.74 per hour (based on a 37.5-hour workweek), which is equivalent to $78,000 - $97,000 annually.
