Job summary

City of Forest Park's Public Works Dept. seeks a Full Time skilled tradesperson to perform electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and general building construction on city facilities.

This role supports maintenance, repair, and installation projects and requires a high school diploma or GED with 3 years building trades experience. You will supervise inmate or community service workers, ensure compliance with codes, respond to work orders, and plan activities to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled/semi-skilled craftsman work in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and building projects.
• Monitor inmate or community service workers; provide training; track progress and inspect work.
• Ensure compliance with laws, codes, and standards; take corrective actions as needed.
• Respond to work orders; estimate time and materials; plan activities to minimize downtime.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems.
• Possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Performs skilled/semi-skilled commercial craftsman-level work involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building construction projects for City buildings, equipment, and related facilities.

Assists in monitoring activities of inmate workers or community service workers assigned to work detail; provides training as needed; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work.

Ensures that operation, repair, maintenance, installation, remodeling, and/or construction of buildings, equipment, and systems are in compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.

Responds to work orders/requests to conduct various installation, repair, or maintenance projects as assigned; calculates/estimates time and material needed to complete projects; plans work activities to minimize down time in offices or other work areas; conducts maintenance inspections of building, equip., and facilities to identify necessary repairs; reports potentially hazardous or dangerous situations to supervisor; responds to emergency situations. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance work to ensure proper operations and regular maintenance of systems and equipment.

Must possess a high school diploma or GED and 3 years previous experience and / or training that includes building construction trades, such as electrical sys., HVAC sys., plumbing, carpentry, etc. Also, must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license. E.O.E

Health/Dental Insurance: Employee coverage is paid for by the City of Forest Park. Family coverage is $13.00 per week.

Vision Insurance: Employee coverage is paid for by the City of Forest Park. Family coverage is $2.50 per week

Life Insurance: Employee coverage is paid for by the City of Forest Park $20,000
