Job summary

City of Forest Park’s Public Works Department is seeking a full-time, semi-skilled worker to support park maintenance and recycling center duties. The position pays $12.14 an hour and requires physical stamina for outdoor tasks and lifting.

Typical duties include litter control, restroom cleaning, weed eating, grass cutting, bed maintenance, and possibly work in other divisions within Public Works. A high school diploma or GED and a Georgia driver’s license are required; EOE.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by previous experience and/or training involving street maintenance.
• Possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Litter control and park maintenance tasks.
• Assist at Recycling Center and in park areas.
• Clean restrooms and perform weed eating, mowing, bed maintenance.
• May work in other divisions within the Public Works Department.

This is semi-skilled work associated with projects and activities within the Public Works Department. Work involves helping at the Recycling Center, working around park areas; litter control, cleaning restrooms, weed eating, grass cutting, weeding planted beds and assorted park maintenance tasks. May be required to work in other divisions within the Public Works Department.

Tasks require the ability to exert physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds). Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by previous experience and/or training involving street maintenance, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.

Possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License.
