Job summary

POET is offering a Summer 2027 Trade Fulfillment Intern position based in Wichita, KS. You will collaborate with marketing, planning, scheduling and accounting to understand and improve business processes.

Gain exposure to transactions, system controls and data reconciliation while supporting timely pricing, settlements and month-end reporting in a hands-on internship environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an accounting emphasis
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work in a team

Responsibilities

• Proficiently managing communication lines between accounting, planning, and logistics groups.
• Identifying process and system improvements to boost cross-group collaboration.
• Ensuring accurate execution of transactions and trades from entry to final settlement.
• Understanding and applying financial controls to day-to-day order execution.
• Learning the economic intent of trades and transactions.
• Assisting with exchanges and direct sale trade positions balancing by volume and price.
• Supporting deadlines for pricing, distributions, settlements and month-end reporting.
• Contributing to other tasks as needed by the team.

JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Trade Fulfillment Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with marketing, planning, scheduling, and accounting. In this role, your work will play an integral part in understanding and executing on the details of the business functions in the most efficient way possible. This is an on-site role located in Wichita, KS.

• Proficiently managing communication lines between the accounting, planning, and logistics groups.
• Identifying process and system improvement initiatives thereby increasing collaboration between the groups.
• Ensuring proper execution of transactions and trades through various systems from the entry point to the final settlement.
• Obtaining and maintaining an understanding of the necessary financial controls and requirements and applying them to the day-to-day order execution process.
• Learning and understanding the economic intent of trades and transactions.
• Assisting with exchanges and direct sale trade positions (volume and price) being balanced.
• Assisting with required deadlines from the accounting group for pricing, distributions, settlements, and month-end reporting.

The POET Never Satisfied Internship openings are for Summer 2027. We post Internships in early September with the intention of having interns selected by November 1st.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Possesses or is seeking a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an accounting emphasis.

Basic understanding of accounting and financial topics. Grasps and understands business concepts and issues.

Excellent organization and time management skills with a sense of urgency that drives results.

Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook, and the ability to learn new programs.
