About the Role

Our client, a well-established international trade finance bank, is seeking a meticulous and experienced Trade Finance Specialist to join their team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. This role focuses on the operational aspects of trade finance, particularly the processing and management of documentary credits (letters of credit), collections, and guarantees. You will ensure compliance with international trade finance regulations and bank policies, manage customer inquiries, and work to mitigate risks associated with international trade transactions. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a balance of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of UCP 600 and other relevant international trade rules. You will play a vital role in facilitating global commerce for our clients, contributing to the smooth flow of international trade through Queenstown.

Key Responsibilities

• Process, examine, and issue documentary credits (LCs) in accordance with UCP 600 and ISBP guidelines.
• Handle international and domestic collections, ensuring compliance with relevant rules.
• Manage applications for bank guarantees and standby LCs.
• Verify shipping documents for accuracy and compliance with LC terms.
• Communicate effectively with clients, correspondent banks, and other parties involved in trade transactions.
• Identify and elevate potential risks or discrepancies in trade finance instruments.
• Ensure adherence to anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations.
• Provide expert advice and support to relationship managers and clients on trade finance products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in trade finance operations, with a strong focus on documentary credits.
• In-depth knowledge of UCP 600, ISBP, and other relevant international trade finance rules and practices.
• Familiarity with international payment systems and SWIFT messaging.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in document examination.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
