Trade Compliance Specialist (Temp to Hire) — Location: Devens, MA (Onsite); Duration: 6 Months (Temp to Hire); Shift: 1st Shift.
About the Role
We are seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to support U.S. import and export operations within a manufacturing and aerospace-focused environment. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable trade regulations, internal policies, and procedures while supporting daily trade operations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with import/export compliance and thrives in a cross-functional, regulated setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support U.S. import and export operations to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
- Maintain and audit division import/export manuals and procedures
- Manage item master data including HTS classification, Country of Origin (COO), and license status
- Partner with Engineering and Procurement on compliance coding for new products
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of import and export records in accordance with U.S. and international regulations
- Provide Free Trade Agreement (FTA) data to customers as required
- Assist with government licensing applications when necessary
- Ensure proper export of products in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Monitor and manage trade compliance systems and tools
- Ensure adherence to internal trade compliance policies and programs
- Maintain compliance with industry regulations including CTPAT, ITAR, and EAR
- Participate in required annual import/export compliance training
- Promote and support a safe work environment
Collaboration & Reporting
- Reports to the Trade Compliance Manager
- Works closely with Engineering, Customer Service, Contracts Administration, Suppliers, IT, Transportation & Logistics, and Compliance teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant trade compliance experience, or
- 4+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong analytical and technical skills with the ability to interpret regulations and apply them to business processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners
- Understanding of lean enterprise principles and continuous improvement practices
