Job summary

GKR Search and Selection is seeking a Trade Compliance Manager in Memphis, TN to own day‑to‑day US import/export compliance activities within a complex aviation environment.

Responsibilities include policy development, licensing support, classification coding and cross‑functional collaboration with legal, operations and global teams. A strong regulatory background and aviation familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in trade compliance, export controls, customs or related regulatory areas.
• Strong working knowledge of US import and export compliance requirements.
• Practical experience with commodity classification and coding.
• Experience with export licensing and licence exceptions.
• Knowledge of sanctions and destination/end‑user controls.
• Understanding of international shipping, logistics and freight‑forwarding practices.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Aviation, aerospace or defence experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.
• Relevant professional certification would be beneficial.

• Monitor import and export transactions to ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
• Manage commodity classification and trade compliance coding.
• Support export licensing and the application of licence exceptions.
• Ensure compliance with EAR, OFAC, FTR and US customs requirements.
• Review sanctions, destination and end‑user restrictions.
• Support drop shipments, routed transactions and international shipping activities.
• Conduct internal compliance reviews and support audit activity.
• Monitor regulatory developments and implement required changes.
• Partner cross-functionally to improve compliance processes and operational effectiveness.
• Provide guidance and training on trade compliance matters.

Trade Compliance Manager | Aviation | Memphis, TN

About the Job:

A well-established international aviation business is seeking an experienced Trade Compliance Manager to support its US import and export activities.

This is a hands‑on opportunity for a trade compliance professional with strong technical expertise who can own day‑to‑day compliance activities while contributing to the continued development and improvement of the wider trade compliance programme. Operating in a complex international aviation environment, you will work across customs, export controls, commodity classification, licensing and sanctions, partnering with legal, operational and other stakeholders across the business.
