Job summary

Magna Powertrain is seeking a Trade Compliance Analyst to support North American customs compliance, including import/export processes, broker management, and post-entry activities. You will liaise with internal teams and external brokers to ensure accurate documentation and regulatory adherence.

The role requires deep knowledge of U.S. and Canadian trade regulations, HTS classifications, and experience with ERP and BI tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, International Business, Business Administration, Logistics, Customs Administration, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, import–export operations, or customs brokerage, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational and stakeholder management abilities, with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred), customs management systems, and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, with Power BI development highly desired.
• Knowledge of U.S./Canadian customs and trade regulations, HTS classification, and tariff rules; ability to develop accurate classifications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as process owner for Broker Referral Program and ensure accurate import data for filings.
• Research and maintain HTS classifications for products and materials, updating as regulations change.
• Identify duty optimization opportunities through FTAs and HTSUS provisions.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Purchasing, Finance, Engineering, and Manufacturing on duty impact analyses.
• Audit import transactions to ensure broker compliance and accurate valuation, classification, and origin data.
• Provide support for import/export shipments, including TIB processes and issue resolution.
• Assist with POAs, bonds, and adherence to SOPs for customs broker management.
• Support post-entry compliance activities such as PSCs, protests, and CF requests.
• Generate trade compliance metrics and dashboards using ACE and broker data.
• Participate in CTPAT-related security compliance and audit preparation.
• Determine HTS classifications for non-production materials and indirect commodities for ongoing compliance.
• Support deployment of AI-driven trade compliance solutions and related tooling.
• Collaborate across Customs Compliance, IT, Supply Chain, and Data Analytics to drive AI initiatives.
