Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Trade Compliance Specialist to interpret international trade regulations, ensure proper use of export controls, and manage import/export duties in a US-based setting. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, review contracts for global trade requirements, and maintain compliance documentation.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, FTC country-of-origin knowledge, and hands-on experience with ACE/SAP.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Operations, Business Administration or other applicable fields
  • Supply Chain certification is a plus to the position
  • Experienced with Federal Trade Commission country of origin
  • Advanced understanding of international business, logistics and supply chain functions, and trade compliance rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of 19 CFR and ability to interpret and apply its rules and regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of international trade regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and U.S. Customs regulations
  • Experience with the ACE system
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Interpret international trade regulations and apply them as necessary
  • Provide guidance and requirements to personnel concerning international trade regulations
  • Ensure proper use of export authorizations, including licenses, agreements, exemptions, and exceptions
  • Determine and document classification designations for parts, equipment, and technology
  • Complete required recordkeeping and maintain knowledge of regulatory changes
  • Review contracts for global trade requirements
  • Process all export orders and import/export transportation duties
  • Manage trade compliance for imports and exports, including shipment workflows and strategic process improvement
  • Use SAP, e2open, Microsoft Excel, ACE, and other government and business analytics systems
  • Provide data and reports on compliance-function performance
  • Review inbound and outbound shipping for import compliance
  • Ensure supply-chain security compliance, including C-TPAT, EU AEO, and other requirements
  • Represent logistics and supply chain in internal and external compliance audits
  • Troubleshoot logistics issues involving compliance, transportation, and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain day-to-day projects of varying scopes
  • Perform post-entry audits of customs entry documents for HTS classification, value, and quantity
  • Serve as primary point of contact for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection National Accounts Manager
  • Collect and validate Section 232 steel and aluminum compliance data and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and customs brokers to ensure accurate duty assessment, CBP compliance, and timely customs clearance
  • Review new products and determine proper HTS classification
  • Collect classification documentation and maintain records
  • Maintain the Trade Compliance Manual and update policies and procedures when applicable
