Job summary

Sysco, a global leader in foodservice distribution, seeks a transportation/warehouse support person in California. You will help prepare equipment for loading, unloading and dispatching according to company standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating with loaders, ensuring trailers are fully loaded and safe, maintaining food safety and sanitary conditions, performing daily equipment inspections, and supporting backhaul deliveries while adhering to safety protocols and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of tractor-trailer experience preferred or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Move trucks and trailers according to door assignments to complete loading.
• Ensure trailer or truck is loaded and refrigeration unit operates before movement.
• Maintain food safety and sanitary conditions in warehouse and yard.
• Perform daily inspections of equipment and inventory related to transportation operations.
• Handle returned merchandise and log stock movements.
• Secure trailer doors and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Occasionally travel to service terminals for refueling/repairs.
• Pick up local backhauls or make deliveries to customers/vendors.
• Follow safe work methods and report any unsafe conditions.
