Job summary

Peterson Cat is seeking an experienced Tractor Trailer Driver for the Ridgefield, WA location. The role involves delivering and retrieving rental equipment with trucks and trailers up to 98,000 lbs GVWR, while following dispatcher instructions and maintaining DOT compliance.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, completion of a certified truck driver training program, and at least three years of related commercial driving experience with a valid Class A CDL and DOT medical

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of directly related commercial driving experience, preferably in a heavy industrial environment.
• Must maintain Class A CDL with required endorsements and a current DOT Medical Certificate.
• Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and requirements is preferred.

• Follow delivery and pickup instructions from Dispatcher and/or Manager.

Peterson Cat has a need for an experienced Tractor Trailer Driver at our Ridgefield, WA location.

SUMMARY

The Tractor Trailer Driver is responsible for deliveries and retrieval of rental equipment at customer sites with various delivery vehicles up to 98,000 lbs. G.V.W.R.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Operate, load, unload, secure, and transport rental equipment using delivery trucks and trailers.
• Follow delivery and pickup instructions from Dispatcher and/or Manager.
• Maintain a safe working environment and observe all company policies as well as Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier safety procedures, laws, policies and rules.
• Maintain an accurate Record of Duty Status log.
• Perform daily vehicle operational safety inspections in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Monitor, maintain, and inspect assigned delivery vehicles in accordance with manufacturer, company, and DOT guidelines.
• Ensure all required registrations, proof of insurance, permits, and inspection reports are current and valid.
• Deliver and retrieve equipment to and from customer sites.
• Inspect equipment for damage when picking up equipment from customers.
• Determineeach customer’s ability to use the equipment in a safe manner.
• Demonstrate use of rental equipment to customers.
• Track and maintain truck equipment inventory.
• Fuel, wash, maintain, and track usage hours of rental equipment as directed.
• Promote positive company image through professional conduct and truck appearance.
• Accurately relay customer concerns and feedback to the appropriate person.
• Complete all rental and related documents in an accurate and timely manner.
• Work on an "on call" 24/7 basis as required for emergency equipment deliveries.
• Maintain regular, punctual, and predictable attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

• Work overtime as needed within labor law and DOT guidelines.
• Must wear company provided uniform when performing the above-mentioned job functions.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
• Display excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers/ coworkers, including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
• Respectfully take direction from supervisor/manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and completion of certified truck driver training program; and a minimum of three (3) years of directly related commercial driving experience, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

• Must maintain updated knowledge of applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier regulations and requirements.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, gas machinery, and diesel machinery preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENCENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Must maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with required endorsements, current DOT Medical Certificate, and satisfactory driving record.
