Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Tractor Mechanic in Windsor Locks, CT, to perform intermediate maintenance, service and repair on tractors and fleet equipment under routine supervision.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, completing fleet maintenance processes, following SRT and warranty guidelines, and ensuring units meet JB Hunt specifications. The role may require outdoor work, shifts including nights/weekends, and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age with 1-2 years of Semi-Tractor maintenance experience or equivalent.
• A/C Certification and 1 year of DOT/FHWA inspections experience.
• Own tools required in most locations; toolbox purchase program available for employees without their own tools.
• Willingness to work outdoors, in varying weather and across multiple shifts including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficient technical knowledge of preventative maintenance and repairs on tractors and related systems.
• Assist with onboarding and mentoring of new Tractor Technician trainees.
• Participate in OE training for repairs and stay current with JB Hunt specifications.
• Troubleshoot tractor issues; work independently and seek assistance as needed.
• Follow shop safety procedures and maintain professional communications with JB Hunt personnel and customers.
• Accurately perform repairs aligned with standard repair times and warranty guidelines.
• Complete work orders and documentation accurately.

Job Summary:

Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for performing intermediate-level maintenance, service, and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors and other equipment. Technicians must be able to troubleshoot issues, complete all fleet maintenance processes, and ensure that units meet J.B. Hunt specifications at all times. This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends in addition to overtime; it requires full-time attendance.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficient technical knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and more difficult repairs as it pertains to tractor maintenance including but not limited to the fuel system, battery, engine, drive train, onboard computer, transmission, air brake systems, and FHWA Inspections
• May assist with the onboarding and mentoring of new Tractor Technician trainees
• Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturing training for OE repairs
• Troubleshoot tractor issues; work independently and seek assistance as needed
• Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers at all times
• Accurately perform intermediate-level repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications, complete work orders, and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

18 years of age with 1-2 years of experience in Semi-Tractor maintenance and repair and/or training and/or military equivalent experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience; willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed. A/C Certification, At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes. Basic tools are required to successfully perform this role. These tools must be supplied by the employee in most locations. Employees without their own tools may obtain them through a toolbox purchase program.

Compensation:

The expected starting pay range for this position is between $29.18 - $43.77. This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
