HNTB Corporation is seeking a lead Traction Power and Electrical Engineering professional in New York area to guide project development and technical delivery. You will supervise, mentor, and coordinate with client counterparts on complex rail and transit projects.

Qualifications

• Must have engineering degree(s) and substantial experience in high‑level design and project delivery.
• PE certification and/or AICP certification are preferred depending on discipline.
• Clear ability to lead and mentor junior staff and coordinate with clients.

Responsibilities

• Performs independent technical reviews and provides guidance on complex engineering projects.
• Provides direction to resolve technical issues and advises project leadership.
• Mentors production staff and supports staffing plans, performance reviews, and succession planning.
• Assists in marketing duties, including proposal development for complex projects.
• Coordinates technical aspects with client counterparts and teaming partners at local leadership level.
• Develops and ensures technical consistency across processes and projects.

This opportunity entails being responsible for providing guidance and direction in area of Traction Power and Electrical Engineering expertise and functional discipline. Supports the technical aspect of project development and delivery including proposal development, scope implementation and change management. Responsible for applying advanced engineering methods, techniques, and analyses to provide solutions, make recommendations and resolve issues. Ensures industry and HNTB standards of design are applied consistently and effectively across projects ranging in discipline, size and complexity. Independently applies knowledge and experience in partnership with internal project team members and external client counterparts. Serves as an advisor on complex projects to provide technical designs, plans and specifications. This position is a lead role to direct, mentor and train junior staff.

What You’ll Do:

• Performs independent technical reviews, makes recommendations, and provides technical guidance as requested on complex or unusual engineering projects.
• Provides direction to resolve technical issues as requested.
• Provides technical expertise and advice to project leadership, and mentoring/support to production staff.
• Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation on complex or unusual engineering projects within discipline.
• Coordinates technical aspects with client counterpart and teaming partners at local leadership level for work within the discipline on complex or unusual engineering projects.
• Develops and advises on technical consistency within discipline across processes and projects.
• Ensures same standard and practices are being applied.
• Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.
• Coordinates schedules and approves timecards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience
• Master’s degree in Engineering and 9 year of relevant experience
• PhD in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience

The approximate pay range for New York is $158,688.55 - $248,205.18. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position based on all selected locations within the state at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.

The approximate pay range for New Jersey is $152,341.01 - $238,276.98. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position based on all selected locations within the state at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
