Job summary

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking a Superintendent to direct the Power Desk within the Metro Integrated Command Center (MICC). The role focuses on planning third-rail power, managing labor relations, overtime budgeting, and reporting to ensure safe, reliable power for the Metrorail system.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of WMATA electrical systems and power distribution.
• Familiarity with WMATA rules and maintenance procedures.
• Understanding safety in transit vehicle operations.
• Knowledge of electrical terminology.
• Knowledge of two-way radio communications.
• Experience using Maximo for asset maintenance.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day admin/management of Power Desk and labor relations.
• Manage track access requests and right-of-way logistics.
• Coordinate repair and maintenance of electrical power equipment.
• Collaborate with Rail Operations Control Center and Maintenance Ops.
• Develop and modify rail maintenance procedures.
• Conduct employee evaluations and staff development.
• Liaise with city/county staff and outside agencies.
• Identify improvements to traction power system.
• Promote safety policies and culture.
