Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must pass all required assessments/trainings and be willing to submit to a background check, pre-employment drug screen, and random drug tests
• High School diploma (or equivalent) and previous experience in railroad or heavy construction preferred but not required
• Willing and able to travel to various job sites including overnight stays and short-notice mobilization
• Able to follow verbal/visual signals and warnings and report hazards
• Able to work as a team member or unsupervised when needed
• Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, lift up to 100 pounds, and have good vision

Responsibilities

• Carry and place track materials using standard railroad maintenance tools
• Install railroad tracks and embankments including track work, signage, and lubricator
• Perform track maintenance and construction such as changing rail and ties, building track, adjusting switches
• Operate picks, shovels, spike mauls, and specialized hydraulic and air tools
• Attend after-hours or weekend callouts to repair derailments and damaged tracks
• Assist in re-railing train cars
• Follow company and federal rules, wear safety equipment, and report safety concerns
