Pay Rate
Step 76 ($41.06/hourly) - Step 99 ($53.67/hourly) (SEIU Pay Band-301)

The Track and Structures Department at BART is looking for a Track Welder to join our team!
This is a journey level classification, capable of the full range of methods and techniques of arc and oxyacetylene welding in right-of-way situations relating to the repair, maintenance, and construction of various types of track elements. This classification also performs the function of operating on-rail vehicles necessary to complete the assigned task during shift per safety rules and procedures. Incumbents in this class must have experience of basic track work, work safely in team settings and read and interpret track standards.
The ideal candidate in this selection process will exhibit experience and knowledge of the thermite welding processes and other railroad related industry standards. In conjunction with demonstrating the ability to complete job-related documentation and utilize the District’s record keeping software Maximo.
Selection Process
This is a SEIU Local 1021 Bargaining unit position. However, all SEIU members must follow the "Bid Form Process"; failure to comply will invalidate an employee's application.
The Employment Office will screen bids/applications/resumes against the minimum qualifications. Those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be referred to the hiring department for further consideration. The selection process may involve a skills/performance test, written exam, and/or a panel interview. Outside applicants will not be considered until all employees who have applied have been considered first.
