R.J. Corman Railroad Switching Co LLC is seeking personnel for railroad track construction and related duties in the Westlake, LA area. Qualified candidates should be able to operate power tools, communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors, and be willing to travel as required.

Job description

• Previous railroad track construction preferred.
• Ability to operate power tools.
• Ability to communicate well with co-workers, customers, and supervisors.
• Qualified candidates will be required to travel.
• Must be able to pass a background check, drug test and physical capacity test.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to perform physical strenuous work
• Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs
• Requires occasional use of 30lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50lbs of force
• Requires occasional use of 10lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75lbs of force
• Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner
• Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary

Environmental Conditions:Performs duties in multiple environments including outside construction project settings, in and around moving vehicles and equipment.Exposure to weather elements; must wear appropriate PPE required for theprojectsite.
