Job summary

Woodland Park School District RE-2 seeks a high school track coach to organize and supervise a comprehensive sports program. The coach will build a strong track team, coach high jump events, manage practice plans, and ensure safety and compliance with CHSAA rules.

Candidates should demonstrate leadership, communication, and the ability to mentor student athletes, with knowledge of technique, training progression, and the capacity to work with athletic staff and administrators.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in track.
• Substantial knowledge of technical aspects and ongoing theory updates.
• Serves as a role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
• Adheres to CHSAA rules and regulations.
• Experience as high jumper or coaching high jump preferred.
• Strong understanding of approach rhythm, takeoff angles, and flight mechanics.
• Ability to teach and demonstrate proper form, progression, and technique adjustments.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and motivational skills.
• Current or ability to obtain CHSAA coaching certification and CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Thorough knowledge of athletic policies and implements them with staff.
• Knowledge of system, state and league regulations; interprets them for staff.
• Understands proper administrative command lines and attends required meetings.
• Establishes philosophy and skills; designs staff conferences and clinics.
• Trains staff and encourages professional growth through clinic attendance.
• Delegates duties, supervises implementation, and evaluates assistants.
• Maintains discipline and addresses grievances; supports morale.
• Performs duties as assigned by athletic director/principal.
• Prepares events; coordinates with maintenance and school staff.
• Maintains equipment safety, documents inspections, and ensures access control.
• Mentors student athletes and monitors academics and behavior.
• Promotes sports program quality and maintains positive public relations.
