Job summary

Prairie Meadows is seeking personnel to work outdoors at the racetrack, performing daily track preparation, paddock maintenance, and equipment operation. Candidates should be ready to learn all areas including main track, training track, horse paths, and paddocks.

Responsibilities include operating tractors, loaders, and other equipment, performing inspections, and reporting issues promptly. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must have a valid Class B driver’s license (CDL with Air Brakes) and a safe driving record.
• Ability to operate and maintain track equipment in all weather conditions.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds and work outdoors for 8 hours.
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.

$22/hour Get paid when you need it – daily, weekly or biweekly!

What you'll be responsible for:

• Cross train to learn all aspects of preparing the main track, training track, horse paths, and paddock areas for racing and training daily.
• Learn to operate all equipment to maintain the racetrack, and when to use them depending on the weather (i.e. tractors, floats, box harrows, double gangs, water truck, horse ambulance and conditioners etc).
• Keep all equipment clean, well maintained and set correctly.
• Inspect, watch, and listen to equipment to make sure it is working properly. Report all problems with equipment to supervisor immediately.
• Keep track, horse path, and paddock in good condition. This includes shoveling the board on the inside rail, outside fence, washouts, drains in the infields, and any other labor work as needed.

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have a valid Class B driver’s license (CDL with Air Brakes), with a safe driving record and must meet the company’s insurance standards. Ability to use rakes, shovels, and four-wheeler. Ability to operate skid loaders. Must be able to operate various types of equipment safely and cautiously. Ability to communicate and interact verbally and in writing with people of diverse backgrounds. Outdoors environment in all types of weather. Works with heavy track equipment. Works around horses. Ability to stand or walk for an eight-hour shift, bend, and do overhead work. Ability to lift 75 pounds. May have exposure to chemicals.
