Job summary

The Poison Information Provider at Grady Health System serves as a knowledge resource to the lay community during poisoning emergencies, using independent judgment to help physicians plan the optimum management of toxicologic problems. Qualifications

• Training and experience within the medical health field as a pharmacy, nurse, or medical student.
• Knowledge of agent toxicity, pharmacokinetics, and clear, professional communication with callers.

Responsibilities

• Assists in public and professional education programs related to poisoning as a public health issue.
• Represents the Center publicly at workshops, seminars, lectures, and health fairs.
• Provides physicians and other medical staff callers with information on toxicity, management, and prognosis.
• Collaborates with staff, other health care providers and lay callers.
• Keeps up with current consumer products, chemical recalls, and agency bulletins related to toxins.
