Job summary

Industrial Communications West is seeking a Safety Coordinator in Fort Morgan, CO to implement and maintain safety programs, trainings and procedures for employees, contractors and visitors.

The role focuses on regulatory compliance, DOT driver qualification management, fall protection and on-site safety leadership. Travel up to 30% to sites and crew bases is expected. 30-hour OSHA certification is required, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in telecommunications, utility, wind energy or construction dealing with fall protection safety.
• Experience developing and coordinating safety programs, training and facilitation.
• In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and OSHA standards.
• Strong understanding of DOT driver qualification requirements and the Clearing House.
• Experience conducting hazard assessments and implementing control measures.
• Strong organizational skills and documentation abilities.
• 30-hour OSHA certification is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screens (drug, criminal, motor vehicle).

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard assessments and audits to identify hazards and mitigate risks.
• Recommend control measures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Lead safety meetings and provide material for crew safety discussions.
• Maintain records of safety incidents, near misses and corrective actions.
• Ensure DOT regulatory compliance by managing driver qualification files and medical cards.
• Conduct engaging new hire safety orientations and training.
• Travel to sites and crew bases to provide training; travel may be up to 30%.
• Monitor and train contractors on safety practices on site.
• Coordinate training programs on tower climbing safety, lockout/tagout, fall protection, and related topics.
• Review job descriptions for specialized safety training.
• Assist HR with enforcing a comprehensive drug and alcohol testing program.
