Tower Foreman – Job Description
Summary
Responsible for leading efforts for the erection, construction, and/or maintenance of wireless towers.Provide assistance toForeman/Construction Manager and Project Manager by direct supervision of all tower personnel.Ensureall OSHA requirements and company procedures are followed.
This is asafetysensitive position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead work on tower top, looking after all aspects of work while on the tower, ensuring that a safe and quality installation has been performed, including rigging, hoisting, landing, fastening,loadhopping, etc.
- Installation of up-top equipment including masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, RRUs, cabling, bolting, true-ingup, shooting proper azimuth within tolerances, reading maps and a compass,torqueingto spec, labeling, picture-taking, documentation, plumb and tilt readings with smart level, etc.Assistwith integrating all closeout requirements are an absolute must.
- Perform coax, fiber, lines, and hybrid cable installation, connector installation, sweep and testingassisting, weather proofing, color-coding, labeling, etc. connect coax feedlines and jumpers per piping diagrams, and support and fasten adequately for a quality, lasting installation.
- Do grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting and antioxidant use, support of leads, cadwelding asrequired, etc.
- Assiston overall job, all tasksrequiredto build and install a site per customer specs,maintainsafe work environment, dailyuseand completion of Jobsite Safety Assessment (JSA) forms,assistingwith overall crew work, maintenance of vehicles and equipment, etc.
- Ensurehighestlevel of safety and quality control requirements are upheld and mentor less experienced crew members in safety awareness.
- Able to photograph work tasks as needed for close out packages, ensuring all safety regulations are in place
- Assistin the coordination andpreparationand cleaning of sites.
- Help lead the efforts in the assembly of monopole, self-support guyedtowersand roof tops
- Assistin the antenna installation of microwave parabolic1 to 15 foot, VHF, UHF, cellular and FM broadcast antennas isrequired
- Lead the transmission line and installation
- Must be willing to continue to work towards training and certifications for tower related work.
- Mustknow how to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
- Able to lead safety tool meeting asrequired
- Responsible for own tool inventory and upkeep daily on job site
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
- Must be able to climb and perform work at various heights, up to 500 feet, forlong periodsof time and multiple times
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 pounds; includes body weight, equipment,toolsand boxes
- Must be able to pull his/her own body weight plus equipment weight up a vertical tower repeatedly forlong periodsof time
- Must be willing to travel out of market/state, for up to several months at a time (80-100%)
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing andparticipatein random testing program
- May berequiredto work long and unpredictable hours
- Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
- Mustpossessvaliddriver’s license and arerequiredto drive company vehicles.A commercialdriverslicense (CDL) is a plus
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability tooperateaerial lifts, man lifts, skidsteersand aerial platform equipment
- Completion of safety LMS and OSHA 10 training preferred as well as competent rigger coursework
- Ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical or LV electrical connections
- Completion of Industrial First Aid and rescue training
- Exceptional knowledge of Fall Protection practice and procedures and tower life saving techniques
- Tower Climbing Safety and Rescue Certification isrequired
- Successful completion of safety in rigging courseworkrequired

- Communicate in person, by phone and radio with supervisor,foremanand co-workers
- Ability to read,comprehendand carry out instructions
- Must be able to work with a team, and independently asrequired
- Must be able to lead crew in support offoreman
Supervisory Requirements
This position will directly supervise up to 4 tower personnel.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is afull timeposition.Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with overtime requirements.
Travel
Extensive travel isrequiredfor this position.Usually between 80 to 100% of the time.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); related trade school education preferred.
Three years’ experience in climbing towers, stacking, rigging, etc.
