Job summary

American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) is seeking a skilled Marine Mechanic based out of Cairo, IL to maintain and repair towboat propulsion and auxiliary systems along the Mississippi River.

You will perform inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting with electrical tools, and document work while complying with safety and environmental policies. This is a full-time hourly role requiring on-call weekends and nights.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years mechanical maintenance experience on shipboard equipment.
• TWIC credential and valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to work on-call weekends and nights as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on main propulsion and auxiliary machinery.
• Diagnose issues using electrical testing tools and multi-meters.
• Repair vessel systems and equipment on fleet vessels.
• Document maintenance and repairs in company records.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and reorder as needed.
• Assist external vendors and support vessels as required.
• Ensure compliance with USCG and environmental policies.
• Be on-call weekends and nights as assigned.
• Keep required records and certificates up to date.
