Job summary

Blue Man Group, part of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, is seeking an experienced Assistant Lighting Technician for the 2026 A New Holiday Surprise Touring production. This full-time touring role supports the Head of Lighting across all tour stops, ensuring lighting cues, safety, and production standards remain at peak quality.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in theatrical lighting, familiarity with GrandMA consoles, rigging and DMX systems, and a willingness to travel domestically

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in theatrical or live event lighting.
• Strong working knowledge of intelligent fixtures, dimming systems, and power distribution.
• Familiarity with GrandMA lighting consoles required.
• Experience with rigging, truss systems, and safe work practices at height.
• Ability to read and follow lighting plots, circuit schedules, and cue sheets.
• Experience troubleshooting DMX and network-based control systems.
• Touring experience strongly preferred.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work safely at height.
• Must be able to travel domestically for extended periods (Nov 2026-Dec 2026) and maintain eligibility for U.S. employment and travel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the setup, focus, programming, and operation of all lighting systems.
• Ensure lighting cues and looks are executed consistently across performances.
• Perform daily checks, maintenance, and cleaning of lighting fixtures, consoles, and cabling.
• Troubleshoot and resolve lighting or electrical issues quickly to minimize performance disruption.
• Maintain show documentation, cue sheets, and follow-up notes as directed by the Head of Lighting.
• Ensure safe rigging, handling, and use of all lighting and electrical equipment.
• Execute assigned running tracks during performances and load-ins/loadsouts.
• Collaborate with other technical departments to integrate lighting with video and scenery.
• May serve as a swing to support other departments when needed.
