Job summary

Northwestern Mutual is seeking a Total Portfolio Analytics & Investment AI Strategy Lead to advance total portfolio management and AI strategy for the General Account. You will own analytics frameworks, data models, and decision-support tools across public and private assets.

Lead a small team of analysts, partner with engineering and enterprise AI teams, and develop dashboards to inform asset allocation, risk, liquidity, and rebalancing decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field; MS/PhD or CFA progress a plus.
• 7–10+ years in multi-asset or total portfolio analytics in asset management or consulting.
• Experience leading or mentoring a small team with delivery accountability.
• Strong understanding of asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk and liquidity management.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, or R; experience with Snowflake/Redshift.
• Dashboards/tools experience: Tableau, Power BI, Streamlit.
• Familiarity with Aladdin, Bloomberg, eFront, Yardi or similar systems.
• Familiarity with ML/AI workflows, governance, and production analytics.
• Ability to partner with engineering, risk, data governance and enterprise AI teams.
• Ability to distill complex analysis into clear narratives for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead total portfolio analytics strategy for strategic and tactical asset allocation, liquidity, risk budgeting, and rebalancing.
• Drive Institutional Investments AI strategy and adoption to improve decision making.
• Partner with engineering and enterprise teams to translate needs into technical requirements.
• Build and maintain data models; onboard total portfolio data sources with quality checks.
• Develop interactive dashboards and portfolio views using Power BI, Streamlit, or similar tools.
• Define analytics roadmap for portfolio models and stress-testing frameworks.
• Improve systems and workflows to reduce manual work and speed decisions.
• Manage and develop a small team of analysts or data professionals.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, risk, operations, and data teams to advance capabilities.
