Job summary

Northwestern Mutual’s Investment Strategy Department seeks a Total Portfolio Analytics & Investment AI Strategy Lead to advance total portfolio management and AI strategy for the General Account. This role owns analytics strategy, data, and decision-support tools powering ~ $327B in the General Account.

You will build data models, develop dashboards with Power BI/Streamlit, and collaborate across engineering, risk, and enterprise AI to drive scalable capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field; MS/PhD or CFA progress a plus.
• 7-10+ years in multi-asset or total portfolio analytics within asset management/allocators/consulting.
• Experience leading and mentoring a small team.
• Strong understanding of asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management, liquidity, performance and attribution.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with modern data warehousing platforms.
• Experience building dashboards and decision-support tools using BI tools.
• Familiarity with investment platforms and ML/AI workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead total portfolio analytics strategy: asset allocation, portfolio construction, liquidity planning, risk budgeting, rebalancing, and scenario analysis.
• Drive AI strategy and adoption to improve investment decision-making and workflows.
• Partner with engineering, data, and enterprise AI teams to translate needs into requirements and production.
• Build and maintain data models; onboard total portfolio data sources and ensure data quality.
• Develop interactive dashboards and portfolio views to communicate exposures, performance, risk, and capital allocation decisions.
• Define analytics roadmap for portfolio models, testing frameworks, and attribution methodologies.
• Identify gaps in data, analytics, and reporting; prioritize improvements to speed decisions and controls.
• Manage and develop a small team, setting priorities and ensuring delivery.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, operations, risk, and data/enterprise teams.
