Job summary

Northwestern Mutual Capital (NMC) seeks an Investment Analytics Associate to enhance front-office decision support through investment data, processes, and technology. You will work across the investment lifecycle with professionals and tech partners to diagnose challenges and implement durable improvements.

You will shape data-driven solutions, build dashboards, and guide adoption of AI-ready datasets while maintaining strong governance and controls across portfolios.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, economics, statistics, data science, computer science, financial engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Two or more years of experience in investment, quantitative, analytics, business analysis, process improvement, or related role.
• Experience analyzing and improving business processes within investment management or similar analytically complex environment.
• Working knowledge of investment workflows and ability to engage credibly with investment professionals.
• Ability to build business cases and communicate tradeoffs involving effort, risk, and value.

Responsibilities

• Work across the investment lifecycle to understand how decisions, data, systems, and processes connect.
• Partner with investment professionals to solve high-value problems beyond mere documentation.
• Shape analytical tools, workflows, and data products to improve decision quality and speed.
• Operate at the intersection of investments, analytics, technology, and change management.
• Own complex initiatives from problem definition through implementation and adoption.
• Map end-to-end front-office processes across deal sourcing, underwriting, closing, valuation, and monitoring.
• Lead structured discovery to identify bottlenecks, data gaps, and process inefficiencies.
• Translate investment needs into clear process, data, and technology requirements.
• Design future-state workflows with stronger controls and scalable operating practices.
• Develop roadmaps with milestones, risks, and business impact.
• Evaluate platforms and tools like eFront, Snowflake, Power BI for better workflows.
• Build business cases to quantify effort, risk reduction, and value.
• Define investment metrics and decision-support tools with investment professionals.
• Create Power BI dashboards and outputs to support portfolio management.
• Support configuration and adoption of consistent practices across platforms.
• Contribute to reliable, AI-ready investment datasets and documentation.
• Create clear process maps and implementation plans.
• Drive adoption by resolving ambiguity and communicating changes.
