Job summary

Reserv is seeking a highly organized Transportation Claims Total Loss Specialist to manage total loss settlements, rental expenses, and review vehicle valuation. You will work with rental facilities, body shops, salvage vendors, and appraisers to resolve claims efficiently while maintaining service quality.

You will triage critical claims, collaborate with product and engineering teams, and travel as needed to serve clients, with a focus on timely resolutions and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; lack of one should not block if you possess other qualifications.
• 3+ years of experience in transportation claims adjusting with Total Loss, First-party and Third-party PD experience.
• Active insurance adjuster license in your home state; willing to obtain all licenses within 60 days.
• Knowledge of state regulations, policy provisions, and SOPs.
• Commercial experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Location Requirement

About the role

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Transportation Claims Total Loss Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with rental facilities, body shops, salvage vendors, and appraisers to manage the total loss settlement process and rental expenses, reviewing the valuation of the vehicle based on its type to resolve the claim efficiently and reviewing damage estimates to confirm vehicles are total losses.

Your role will also be responsible for handling an inventory of claims, triaging critical claims, and delivering service to all constituents of the claim.

The ideal candidate has a willingness to work through a design process that supports the quickest claim resolution with the best outcome. In addition, you will collaborate closely with our product and engineering teams to give feedback and identify technology and process improvements.

What you'll do

• Provide prompt, courteous and high-quality customer service to all policyholders and claimants by answering customer calls and resolving customer requests
• Gather necessary information from customers to successfully adjudicate the claim and explain policy, coverage, and appropriate course of action
• Manage an inventory of claims, establish initial reserves for all potential exposures, and adjust as appropriate throughout the claim
• Coordinate with our salvage vendor partners for the movement of damaged vehicles and assist with rental reimbursement
• Recognize recovery opportunities in regards to subrogation and salvage, as well as total loss
• Ensure compliance with specific state regulations, policy provisions, and standard operating procedures
• Negotiating and communicating all total loss settlements per company and state guidelines within approved payment authority
• Provide input for continuous development of claims guidelines, best practices, and process improvements
• Oversee and direct outside investigative service providers and work closely with the client and client counsel and investigative services to resolve the claim
• Engage in learning opportunities to build knowledge of personal lines claims, court decisions impacting the claims function, current guidelines in claims function, and policy changes and modifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (lack of one should not stop you from applying if you possess all the other qualifications)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience on point and concentrated in transportation claims adjusting, ideally with:
  • Total Loss adjusting experience
  • First-party Comp and Collision
  • Third-party Property Damage Liability
• Active insurance adjuster’s license by way of a designated home state, or home state
• Willing to obtain all licenses within 60 days, including completing state required testing
• Knowledge of state regulations, policy provisions, and standard operating procedures
• Commercial experience preferred
• Ability to analyze and evaluate complex data and make sound decisions based on established guidelines, policies, and procedures
• Curious and motivated by problem solving and questioning the status quo
• Desire to engage in learning opportunities and continuous professional development
• Willingness to travel for client and claims needs
