Job summary

PGTEK seeks a VMware vDefend Security Engineer (SME) to design, deploy, and optimize vDefend and related security technologies for a federal on-premise environment in Alexandria, VA. The role emphasizes secure architecture, firewalling, micro-segmentation, and AVI load balancing to meet DoS security standards.

The candidate will implement risk-reducing configurations, mentor government IT staff, and ensure convergence with VMware components.

Qualifications

• Hands-on with VMware vDefend security technologies.
• Strong knowledge of vDefend firewalling and threat protection.
• Experience with AVI (NSX Advanced Load Balancer) deployment and configuration.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and deployment of VMware vDefend solutions to meet DoS and federal requirements.
• Configure and optimize vDefend and NSX firewall rulesets (north-south and east-west).
• Implement advanced threat protection policies and defensive security measures.
• Develop architecture plans for threat protection and micro-segmentation.
• Produce architecture diagrams, design documents, and SOPs.
