Job Description:

The BIT, LLC is recruiting for an opening for an experienced Test Engineer to provide Agile DevOps support to mission critical systems. As a Test Engineer on this program, you will have the opportunity to perform software development to implement scripts, evaluate test results and feedback loops in a Continuous Integration Delivery Pipeline.

Responsibilities:

This position involves collaborating with Product Owners, Development Teams, the Chief Architect and QA Managers in the design, development, execution, and maintenance of comprehensive test strategies supporting customer needs, mission objectives, and product requirements. The candidate practices a SAFe Agile workflow by participating in daily team coordination, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives. The candidate participates in planning activities, reviews and implements test requirements, supports test case execution, and contributes to release validation activities. The role applies testing methodologies and troubleshooting experience to identify defects, maintain test automation frameworks, participate in test plan reviews, and document test results and quality metrics. The candidate also helps ensure overall system code coverage remains above 80% while supporting software quality, performance, and continuous improvement through rigorous testing practices.

Program hours 8am-4pm CST with core 10am-2pm. Occasional evening or weekend work can be required. When required, schedule changes will be arranged. Typical work week is onsite 3-4 days a week in office with support of a hybrid (WFH) schedule contingent with Program Management’s approval. Tuesdays at STL Grand office and Thursdays at the O’Fallon Illinois office minimum.

Core Qualifications:
  • Apply DevOps practices to develop, maintain, and continuously improve test automation assets while ensuring configuration control, traceability, and repeatability. Utilize Jira and Confluence to manage requirements, tasks, test artifacts, and project documentation.
  • Support software development, testing, and integration activities within cloud development environments.
  • Participate in program Agile software development initiatives (daily standups, sprint reviews, and supporting development and functional testing) to support innovation and enhancement of custom applications through iteration/functionality testing.
  • Participate and collaborate with team members to assess tickets to ensure proper testing and delivery of functionality per Acceptance Criteria (Customer / Internal).
  • Collaborate with team members (Product Owner, Software Developers, QA Team) to develop test approaches with emphasis on automation of recurring/regression testing through selected toolsets.
  • Ability to create, maintain, and evaluate automated test suites to validate application functionality, improve test coverage, and support continuous integration.
  • Execute and document testing activities for Jira-tracked development efforts, ensuring software changes meet requirements.
  • Analyze testing results and provide actionable feedback to development teams to drive continuous process improvement.
  • Experience working/testing within Commercial Cloud Platforms (ex: AWS), OpenShift and DevOps tools.
  • Experience working in a SAFe Agile and DevOps development environment and tempo.
  • Ability to test both back-end and front-end applications processes.
  • Experience with scripting languages (ex: Python) to automate tasks.
  • Experience in establishing runs in CI Pipeline including JEST, Cypress and/or Playwright.
  • Knowledge of or direct experience with software performance testing practices.
  • Direct experience with creation, authoring, execution and documentation of test cases/result sets for software products in an agile cadence.
  • Demonstrate ability to work within collaborative environment to execute test cases complimentary to development efforts.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Must possess a TS with ability to obtain SCI and Poly CI.
  • DoD 8570 Certification Compliance (IAT Level 2/3)
  • Requires BS degree and & 4+ years of prior relevant experience OR, MS with 3+ years of prior relevant experience; OR 4 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Familiar with System Engineering documentation creation (VDDs, diagrams, etc.).
  • Familiar with team collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, RocketChat).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience reviewing outputs and capable of tracking test failures back to code changes that resulted in bugs.
  • Capable of reviewing code check-ins to understand the impact of code changes on system functionality and potential application bugs.
  • Experience in either software development projects or software integration projects in a service-oriented environment (Cloud, SOA, Web-Services) or virtualization environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience with unit testing, continuous integration tools, and git version control
  • Utilize SQL queries and database analysis techniques to validate application data, support test execution, investigate defects, and ensure data integrity across system environments.
  • Proactive self-starter who demonstrates a positive, willing attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Can plan and prioritize work. Can follow tasks to their logical conclusion and makes sure that everything has been done to the right standard. Good attention to detail.
  • Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with team members and clients, verbally and in writing. Able to present ideas in a variety of ways depending upon audience and context.
  • At least 1 year of experience with DoD Aeronautical Datasets.
  • At least 1 year of experience with AWS cloud formation templates.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Team Collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • DOD 8570 Compliant Certification (Sec+)
