Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Dulles, Virginia seeks a Systems Engineer Level 3 or 4 to join our launch leadership team. You will oversee end-to-end integration of space vehicles onto the selected launch vehicle, coordinate base processing, and execute launch operations as a primary technical interface with launch partners.

The role demands experience in space systems and launch operations, a TS/SCI clearance, and the ability to obtain any required additional clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5+ years (Systems Engineer 3) or Master’s with 3 years or PhD with 1 year (Systems Engineer 3)
• Systems Engineer 4 requires 8+ years (Bachelor’s) or 6 years (Master’s) or 4 years (PhD) in STEM
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance and ability to obtain SCI clearance
• Experience with space systems, launch vehicles, payloads, or ground systems
• Familiarity with launch or range operations, mission integration, or space vehicle integration processing

Responsibilities

• Lead space vehicle integration with various Launch Service providers
• Plan and execute all aspects of the launch lifecycle from early studies through day‑of‑launch activities
• Plan and manage launch site operations and logistics with stakeholders
• Prepare and secure acceptance of launch range safety documentation
• Identify and mitigate spacecraft hazards per MIL-STD-882
• Coordinate range operations and deliver range products for the space vehicle
• Plan and execute trailblazers, interface simulators and match-mates
• Lead/participate in mission working groups and reviews
• Provide technical support for program reviews, schedules, rehearsals, and daily status during launches
• Develop interface definitions and documentation (IRDs, ICDs)
• Prepare and deliver Launch Readiness Review documentation and actions
