Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology seeks a Data Engineer to transform technology for mission-critical government programs. You will design, build, and maintain data architectures in AWS GovCloud, migrate data to cloud-based solutions, and develop scalable pipelines and integrations.

You’ll work with data scientists, architects, and stakeholders to ensure data infrastructure supports performance metrics and security requirements. Active Top Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related experience in data engineering or a closely related field.
• Experience implementing data warehousing concepts, ETL processes and tools (e.g., Pentaho).
• Experience with developing and administering PostgreSQL.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and other querying languages.
• Decomposition of Oracle PL/SQL to migrate to Amazon Aurora/ PostgreSQL/ MySQL.
• Data modeling, schema design and database optimization in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain data architectures and databases in the AWS GovCloud environment.
• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and API integrations; ensure pipelines are scalable, repeatable, and secure.
• Migrate data from on-premises databases to cloud-based solutions and transform data as required.
• Implement data extraction, load, and ETL/ELT processes; oversee data governance and quality controls.
• Improve system performance through testing and troubleshooting; ensure compliance with confidentiality and privacy requirements.
• Collaborate with data scientists, architects, and stakeholders to support data infrastructure requirements.
