Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Tooling Fabrication Technician in Savannah, GA. The role involves constructing, reworking, inspecting, and repairing a wide range of tools from Engineering and Tool Design drawings, and leading a small team of toolmakers.

You will plan layouts, calculate speeds and feeds, and ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring devices, GD&T principles, and shop math.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5 years tooling experience and/or relevant training.
• Position entails constructing, reworking, repairing, inspecting and modifying tools from engineering/tool design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate tool shop machinery to fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair tools from drawings.
• Lead one to two lower level toolmakers.
• Plan and lay out work from drawings and manuals.
• Coordinate interrelated tooling with primary task.
• Perform calculations of material and machine cutters (speeds and feeds).
• Set up and use precision measuring tools; check own work against specifications.
• Set up and conduct tool prove out on new and reworked tools.
• Communicate with others on work order status and completion of work.
• Repair and maintain tooling fixtures, scaffolding, dollies, hoists and test equipment.
• Conduct visual and periodic inspections and proof loads on tooling.
• Comply with safety regulations; operate cart and forklift.
• Read/write/speak English.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions:

• Setup and proficiently operate tool shop machinery and equipment to fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair a wide range of tools from Engineering and/or Tool Design drawings. Lead one to two lower level toolmakers .

Other Requirements:

• Must understand and apply shop math. Ability to read/understand complex blueprints, sketches, verbal instructions and tool design.
• Must understand Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing.
• Must be proficient in operating all tool shop machinery and the use of precision measuring devices.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
