Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace Savannah is seeking a Toolmaker III for the GAC Savannah facility to construct, rework, repair and inspect a wide range of tools from Engineering/Tool Design drawings. You will lead one to two junior toolmakers and ensure precision through GD&T and exacting measurement practices.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, 5 years of tooling experience, ability to read blueprints, interpret GD&T, and operate tool shop machinery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5 years tooling experience and/or relevant training.
• Must understand and apply shop math.
• Must understand Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing.
• Must be proficient in operating tool shop machinery and precision measuring devices.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• English language reading/writing and comprehension.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate tool shop machinery to fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair tools from drawings; lead 1–2 junior toolmakers.
• Plan layout from engineering drawings and manuals.
• Coordinate interrelated tooling with primary tasks.
• Perform material and cutter speed/feeds calculations.
• Set up and use precision measuring tools; verify conformance to specs.
• Set up tool prove-outs on new/reworked tools.
• Communicate work order status and completion.
• Repair/maintain tooling fixtures, scaffolding, dollies, hoists, and test equipment.
• Conduct visual and periodic inspections and proof loads on tooling.
• Comply with safety regulations; operate cart and forklift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
