Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, GA is seeking a Toolmaker II to lay out and fabricate tooling from design drawings and sketches. Under minimal supervision, you will calculate material needs, produce tooling, and verify tolerances.

Responsibilities include operating tool shop machinery, using precision gauges, repairing fixtures, and ensuring safety. Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED, 3 years of machine shop experience or equivalent training, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3 years machine shop experience and/or machine shop training at a Vocational Technical School.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate tool shop machinery and equipment to fabricate and assemble tooling from drawings or hand sketches.
• Calculate materials needed and the speeds/feeds for machining functions.
• Set up and utilize precision measuring tools; verify conformance to specifications.
• Assist with tool prove out on new and reworked tooling.
• Repair and maintain tooling fixtures, scaffolding, dollies, hoists and test equipment.
• Conduct visual and periodic inspections and proof loads on tooling.
• Operate cart and forklift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Purpose

Under minimal supervision, lay out and construct tools from Tool Design, Engineering drawings and/or hand sketches. Perform the necessary calculations of the material needed to do the job.

• Responsible for the repair and maintenance of tooling fixtures, scaffolding, dollies, hoists and test equipment .
• Responsible for conducting visual and periodic inspections and proof loads on tooling .

Additional Functions

• Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a neat and orderly work area .
• Operate cart and forklift .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements

• Must have a good understanding and ability to apply shop math. Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Must have a good understanding of Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
