Job summary

J.S.T. Corporate Office in Waukegan, IL is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to support the design, build, development, and qualification of production die and mold tooling. This role focuses on creating high-precision tooling to ensure reliability and efficiency in production.

You will read complex drawings, set up presses, perform machining and heat treating, and support tooling qualification; applicants must be a Certified Journeyman Tool and Die Maker with 5–7 years of experience.

Qualifications

• CAD and NC programming experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build, develop, and qualify production die and mold tooling
• Manufacture replacement die and mold tooling as needed
• Support tooling improvements and troubleshooting to meet production requirements
• Maintain and care for tool room equipment
• Read and interpret product and tool drawings
• Set up and operate press machines
• Perform machining, fitting, heat treating, and tool development activities
• Support prototyping and new tool development
• Complete additional duties as assigned

Job Details: Job Location: J.S.T. Corporate Office (JA) - Waukegan, IL 60085 | Salary Range: $30.00 - $36.00 Hourly | Job Shift: First Shift

We are seeking an experienced Toolmaker to support the design, build, development, and qualification of production die and mold tooling. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining high-precision tooling to support production while ensuring reliability, quality, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Build, develop, and qualify production die and mold tooling
• Manufacture replacement die and mold tooling as needed
• Support tooling improvements and troubleshooting to meet production requirements
• Maintain and care for tool room equipment
• Read and interpret product and tool drawings
• Set up and operate press machines
• Perform machining, fitting, heat treating, and tool development activities
• Support prototyping and new tool development
• Complete additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyman Tool and Die Maker
• Strong experience with die and mold building and development
• Proficiency in all tool room machines
• Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and specifications
• Solid understanding of machining, heat treating, and tooling qualification
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 5–7 years of related toolmaking experience
• Technical school training preferred
• CAD and NC programming experience a plus
