We are seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maker to support manufacturing operations through the planning, fabrication, assembly, repair, and optimization of tooling solutions. This role is responsible for building and maintaining tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and related equipment while partnering across Manufacturing, Engineering, Tool Design, and Production teams to improve efficiency, quality, and manufacturability.
Responsibilities
- Plan, layout, fabricate, assemble, modify, repair, and validate tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, templates, and related equipment.
- Interpret tool design prints, sketches, engineering drawings, and established shop procedures to determine sequencing, tooling, materials, and machining requirements.
- Develop tooling solutions including blanking, piercing, and forming dies, drill jigs, machine fixtures, hand tools, and specialty attachments.
- Provide technical input where drawings or designs require clarification and collaborate with engineering and supervisory teams on manufacturable solutions.
- Recommend improvements to tooling design, fabrication methods, and material selection.
- Prepare sketches and layouts for tooling details and machining operations.
- Support setup, first-piece inspection, and tooling modification activities with design and production teams.
- Set up and operate machine tools and CNC equipment as needed.
- Perform tooling rework, repairs, inspections, and validation activities.
- Apply advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry and precision measurement techniques.
- Troubleshoot tooling failures and identify root causes related to design, construction, materials, or usage.
- Develop corrective actions to improve quality, efficiency, and manufacturing cost.
- Maintain documentation, reports, and records supporting tooling activities.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience setting up and operating CNC machines.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, datum structures, tolerances, and engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience using precision measuring instruments including calipers, bore micrometers, dial indicators, and related gauges.
- Strong understanding of shop mathematics and measurement techniques.
- Ability to work any shift.
