Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as Toolmaker or related role.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes and blueprint reading.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build, assemble, and modify precision tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Machine and fit components to precise tolerances using manual and CNC equipment as needed.
  • Verify tooling dimensions and functionality before release to production.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on production tooling.
  • Diagnose tooling issues and complete repairs to minimize production downtime.
  • Recommend tooling improvements to enhance performance and longevity.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve tooling-related challenges.
  • Assist with tooling changeovers and support new product introductions.
  • Provide technical recommendations for improving manufacturing efficiency.

Job description

We are seeking a Toolmaker to join a skilled manufacturing team responsible for building, maintaining, repairing, and modifying precision tooling, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures that support efficient production operations. The ideal candidate has strong machining skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot tooling issues to ensure high-quality manufacturing performance.

Position Responsibilities
Tool & Die Fabrication
  • Build, assemble, and modify precision tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Machine and fit components to precise tolerances using manual and CNC equipment as needed.
  • Verify tooling dimensions and functionality before release to production.
Tool Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform preventive maintenance on production tooling.
  • Diagnose tooling issues and complete repairs to minimize production downtime.
  • Recommend tooling improvements to enhance performance and longevity.
Precision Machining
  • Operate lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy.
Production Support
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve tooling-related challenges.
  • Assist with tooling changeovers and support new product introductions.
  • Provide technical recommendations for improving manufacturing efficiency.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
Prerequisites
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as a Toolmaker, Tool & Die Maker, or in a related precision manufacturing role.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and blueprint reading.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
  • Journeyman Toolmaker Certification
  • NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) Certification
  • OSHA Safety Certification
  • Technical or vocational training in Tool & Die, Machining, or Manufacturing Technology
