ConMet - Canton, NC Location: Tooling Technician (Night Shift)

ConMet is seeking an experienced Tooling Technician to support our Tooling Department during night shifts. If you are skilled in hands-on work with tight tolerances and enjoy working with large injection molds, we want to hear from you! Our Tooling Technicians are vital in maintaining the operation of plastic injection molds, supporting the Class 8 Heavy Truck market.

Responsibilities:

1. Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
2. Work with CAD and produce parts for mold and fixture maintenance as needed.
3. Duplicate parts when CAD data is unavailable.
4. Adjust machines and fixtures using measurement tools like scales, rules, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
5. Monitor and execute tooling and mold readiness, including insert changes.
6. Troubleshoot injection molds and sustain production.
7. Detect tooling problems or machine malfunctions during operation.
8. Measure mold and part dimensions to ensure accuracy.
9. Inspect incoming molds and related equipment to ensure proper condition.
10. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and molds.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• At least one-year certificate from college or technical school plus three years of experience in a machine shop environment (required). Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
• Ability to operate a surface grinder within tight tolerances (required).
• Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Ability to follow instructions, read micrometers, and interpret CAD drawings.
