Responsibilities
- Perform pre-shift exercise/stretching activities unless a written doctor's note is provided to Human Resources.
- Work as part of a team and seek help when needed.
- Immediately notify the supervisor of any problems or issues.
- Understand and adhere to all safety precautions and proper operation procedures for machines and equipment.
- Operate molding presses, open or close molds for repairs, and troubleshoot basic molding process issues.
- Assist in setting and pulling molds, ensuring molds are clean and complete before use.
- Set and remove molds, ensure correct nozzle length, and properly set safety stops and mold indicators.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area around molding machines.
- Verify electrical, water, and air connections are functioning correctly and check for leaks.
- Follow mold check and cleaning procedures, and assist in mold repairs and wiring as needed.
- Test molds for water, air, and electrical functionality before leaving the shop.
- Green-tag molds when ready for production and report damaged molds for repairs.
- Record maintenance activities accurately in the Mold Maintenance File.
- Notify management of supply needs and keep the Tool Room clean.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned and adhere to established safety and quality procedures.
- Shutdown equipment in case of immediate danger.
PURPOSE: To define the responsibilities and qualifications of a Mold Technician.
AUTHORITY: The employee is authorized by the Tooling Manager to carry out responsibilities and other duties as directed.
Starting pay: $26.00
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Positive attitude, teamwork skills, honesty, dependability, and motivation.
- Good math, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Knowledge of injection mold components and terminology.
- Valid Driver’s license, mechanical aptitude, and own hand tools.
- Forklift and crane certification.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work around grease, oils, and solvents.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform manual tasks with good manual dexterity and color differentiation.
