Qualifications

  • Must be able to read micrometers and verniers and maintain tooling documentation.
  • Experience with setting up and troubleshooting die tooling on presses.
  • Prior tool and die or machining background in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor tooling repairs.
  • Use mills, lathes and surface grinders to produce replacement parts.
  • Maintain documentation for tooling setups, PMs and modifications.
  • Support tooling department as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including weekend coverage.

Job description

Scheduled Hours: 3pm-12pm, training on 1st shift
Position Summary:

The Tooling Technician supports manufacturing by ensuring all dies (and related tooling) are kept in a state of readiness. Perform die preventative maintenance and setup activity on dies for production use.

Essential Functions:
  • Disassemble and reassemble dies.
  • Setup and trouble shoot die setups on injection presses.
  • Minor repair of tooling.
  • Using mills, lathes and surface grind machines to produce replacement parts.
  • Maintain documentation related to tooling setups, PM's and modifications.
  • Support tooling department, as necessary.
  • Must follow and adhere to all safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision
  • Weekend coverage, as scheduled
Required Skills:
  • Ability to read micrometers and verniers.
  • Ability to organize and maintain documentation.
  • Demonstrated mechanical or machining capability.
  • Forklift certified or willing and able to pass certification.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and perform new assignments.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Basic computer skills and proficient in data entry for excel, word and outlook
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be self-directed to accomplish goals with minimal supervision.
  • Proven records for high attendance and performance

Experience & Education
  • State of Ohio Tool and Die Apprenticeship Program Certification or equivalent is desirable.
  • Prefer 3+ years of experience in a mechanical related technician role in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands

Physical Demands: <1% & 1-33% & 34-66% & 67-100% (various frequencies); 1-2x hr, 3-6x hr, 7-30 hr, >30x hr; squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting in a chair, stair climbing, ladder climbing, walking of rough surfaces, near moving machinery.
